The organizational committee of the competition Viceremier Dmitry Chernyshenko, who previously managed the organizing committee of the Olympics in Sochi in 2014, will head the competition. The chairman of the Supervisory Board will be the deputy chairman of Putin administration Sergey Kiriyenko. According to the decree, the competition will be held for the purpose of "further development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation".
The event is planned to be organized in Moscow and Moscow region. This competition is not new. "Interaction" took place in the 1970s and 1980s in the countries of the socialist bloc. In November 2023, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova proposed to restore this competition. In December of that year, Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order for allocation of 600 million rubles for its holding in St. Petersburg.
It was reported that the interest in participating in the competition was expressed by Azerbaijan, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Russia made its debut on Eurovision in 1994. Since then, she has participated in the song competition 23 times. On February 25, 2022, Russia was disqualified due to a full -scale invasion of Ukraine, and on February 26 was expelled from the European Language Union, which makes it impossible to participate in the country and broadcast competitions.
