Austria is preparing for a possible blackout because of the war in Ukraine - the Defense Ministry

According to the Austrian Defense Minister Claudia Tanner, Putin can use hackers attack on Western power systems as a hybrid war. And by the fourth day without light, a third of the Austrians will not be able to take care of themselves. As a result of the war in Ukraine, the likelihood of switching off electricity in some EU regions has increased significantly. The statement was made by the Minister of Defense of Austria Claudia Tanner.

According to her, interruptions with energy supply are just a matter of time. About it reports the German edition Die Welt. "For Putin, hacker attacks on Western power systems are a means of hybrid war. We should not pretend that it is only a theory," Tanner explained, adding that we need to prepare for electricity shutdowns in Austria and other European countries.

According to the Minister, the Austrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces, the police, the fire department, the organization of civil defense are involved in comprehensive measures to prepare for electricity. In some cases, local communities and schools are involved in such exercises.

"In public places, we will spread small brochures with tips on what to do in the case of electricity shutdown and how to prepare in advance, for example, to stock up on certain products," the minister explained. Social campaigns are being conducted, residents of Austrian cities are informed, information is placed on advertising shields and more. There are visual activities that show the possible scenarios of the necessary actions.

There are tests of how food trade in the event of a natural disaster. The minister estimates that by the fourth day of power outage, one third of the Austrians will not be able to take care of themselves. The minister also shared his opinion about the war in Ukraine. "The war in Ukraine is being exhausted, with high intensity and high losses on both sides," she said. "In winter, the fighting is likely to decrease, but now both sides are preparing for new offensives in the spring.

" It is important that the event continues to provide large -scale support to Ukraine and retains sanctions. "Without the support of the event, Ukraine would be lost. As a neutral country, we do not provide lethal weapons, but we provide field X -ray machines, helmets and electric generators, which is equally important," said the Head of the Defense Office. Recall that the export control service of Ukraine interferes with the supply of drones of the Armed Forces.
