Leroy Merlin: Social Responsibility in War

In 2022, Leroy Merlin Ukraine founded the Solidarity Charitable Foundation, which focused on three key areas: housing and social infrastructure, damaged shelling; setting temporary shelters for those who have lost their home; as well as facilitate the creation of rehabilitation centers. The Solidarity Fund pays special attention to helping people with disabilities who have suffered from war.

For the head of the Mathio-Marie Fund, this decision is personal: living in Kiev near the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, he often sees young patients who are difficult to move. "These are the consequences of the war to work with. Society has to adapt to the needs of people with disabilities, not the other way around," Mato-Marie Arden says. Therefore, the Foundation focused its efforts to create rehabilitation centers.

The first project was the Trinity Hub, a rehabilitation center for people with visual impairments and other types of disability. The Solidarity Foundation has financed the repair of the premises and created the conditions for the rehabilitation and social adaptation of visitors. At the request of the Fund, Lerua Merlin Ukraine has adapted furniture to the needs of people with disabilities, as well as bathrooms.

Subsequently, the Foundation facilitated the repair and arrangement of the Tytanovi Rehab centers and the rehabentier, adapting them to inclusive standards. "This is a large-scale, it requires a lot of money, but it is absolutely necessary. After all, the number of people who need rehabilitation are increasing in Ukraine in Ukraine," Matyo-Marie Arden notes every minute. The extent of Leroy Merlin Ukraine in cooperation with the Solidarity Fund is striking.

Together, they implemented dozens of housing recovery and social infrastructure damaged as a result of hostilities. The total amount of assistance in 2024 was UAH 98. 9 million. Leroy Merlin is not waiting for the end of the war to act. The company is already actively facilitating the restoration of residential buildings, social infrastructure and creating decent conditions for those who need them.
