The Defense Forces of Ukraine received assistance from the event for tens of bil...

From the Soviet T-72 to Leopard and Abrams. As the Ukrainian Army changed in 19 months of the Great War

The Defense Forces of Ukraine received assistance from the event for tens of billions of dollars, and millions of dollars are raised by volunteers, hundreds of billion hryvnias leave the budget. All this modified the Ukrainian army in three key components: land, airy and marine. The Armed Forces have the most modern domestic and western solutions. Ukraine has been reflecting a full -scale Russian invasion for 19 months.

The focus compared which weapons were the defense forces at the time of February 24, 2022, and what weapons of the country's defenders are now. Defense forces largely had Soviet or modernized Soviet weapons: tanks, artillery, rockets. Prior to a full -scale war, there were modern developments, but they were either not funded in sufficient volumes, or they existed in a very limited number.

For example, the first 155-mm Ukrainian Bogdan's Ukrainian SAU existed in one copy at the time of a full-scale war. Now everything has changed, the defense forces have the latest samples of Western equipment, rockets and other weapons. The event did not replace all weapons, but significantly strengthened the possibilities of the Armed Forces. The focus has prepared a comparison on Earth, in the air and on the water.

At the time of the start of a full -scale war, there was no western tank in the Ukrainian army. The whole Ukrainian army had tanks of different series in service: T-64, T-72, T-80 and T-84. Each of these models had its own modernizations, for example, one T-64 has versions of T-64BV, T-64BV sample of 2017, BMat BMat, BMAT-2 and a number of others. The same applies to other models. There were hundreds of tanks in the Land Forces, Airborne Assault and Navy.

It was they who assumed the first blow of the Russian invaders. In fact, Ukraine fought on Soviet tanks throughout the first year, the Allies transferred their own reserves of Soviet technology to the Ukrainian army, mainly T-72, since the T-64 was not exported to the USSR. Poland then began to supply a deep-modern T-72 under the name PT-91 TWARDY, then Slovakia handed over its deep modernization of the M-55S, from the former T-55 remained only the body.

Other tanks from the countries of the former Warsaw Treaty were also received. In late 2022 - early 2023, Ukraine broke another invisible wall in deliveries, the West agreed to pass its tanks: at the same time it is worth noting that together with the western tanks of Ukraine, Ukraine was handed modern ammunition with depleted Uranus. In total, Ukraine will receive or have already received about 250-300 western tanks, among which more than half will be Leopard 1.

In addition to the Western assistance of the Defense Force, hundreds of trophy tanks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation-from the old T-62 to the latest and most modern T-90m "Breakthrough". Units of them have transferred to partners for study, which became known from media reports. This will allow the US Army to know Russian equipment better, and therefore it is better to prepare for the conflict, if any.

Also, the Ukrainian military-industrial complex has created at least two "mobilization" versions of tanks: T-64BV sample of 2022 and T-72AAMT of the sample of 2022. Western partners, in the person of Poland and the Czech Republic, modernize and repair Ukrainian tanks. Until the full -scale war in Ukraine, there was no means of lesions more than 120 km. The point-u tactical missile complex has a stated range of 120 km. There were also "alder" missiles for the same name.

They also have a range of 70 km with a prospect of increasing up to 200 km. For a long time, the Western partners refused to transfer to Ukraine long -range weapons because of fears of blows in the Russian territory. Therefore, the point-y and later GMLRS missiles were the most long-range weapons. However, everything has changed with the transmission of Storm Shadow and Scalp Ukraine. The United Kingdom and France only handed them over in May 2023.

It is known that the rocket has a range of more than 560 km, but probably because of export restrictions, Ukrainian ammunition has a limited range at 250 km. According to the media, Ukraine can soon receive another desired weapon - ATACMS ballistic missiles, which, depending on the version, will have a range of up to 300 km. Germany is also hesitant in the issue of Taurus's winged rockets, similar in characteristics from Storm Shadow.

It is also worth specifying the Ukrainian anti -ship complex "Neptune". Its range is 270 km in the basic version, but it was created to destroy marine goals, such as Moscow rocket cruiser. Therefore, until recently, the rocket could not be used for landscaping for land purposes. Even during the Neptune test, the General Director and the General Designer of the SCKB "Luch" Oleg Korostelov stated that the rocket could be processed for blows on the ground.

In August 2023, it became a reality, according to the media, it was Neptune who destroyed the C-400 SPR in the occupied Crimea. It is also stated that the rocket range is nearly 400 km, which is why Neptune is now the most distant weapon in the Armed Forces. Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov, in an interview with The War Zone, actually confirmed the presence of Neptune-Earth-Earth missiles.

When asked by journalists, for which the ammunition was used first of all, the general said that for blows at Russian air defense. "The purpose of action using this weapons system (Neptune - Ed. ) Is to make holes in Russian air defense, and then use this hole in air defense for other operations," - said Budanov.

There is no official confirmation, but in the media it was written that Ukraine has modernized the C-200 anti-aircraft missiles for striking purposes by analogy with the C-300 in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. However, it is unknown whether they were able to resolve the issue of changing the head of the homing and increasing the weight of the combat part. The potential range of the rocket can be 240-300 km.

The presence of Ukrainian rocket weapons will allow to beat Russian military facilities in its territory, which is forbidden to make partners from the weapons transferred. There were more than 1000 different artillery systems in Ukraine - they were all Soviet models or modernized Soviet systems. In particular, they developed the modernization of the Grad RSSU, all of them concerned only chassis and cabins. The starting installations remained the former with unmanaged shells.

Also, KB "Luch" worked on a high -precision rocket "Alder", which was released from the Soviet starting RSSU. The list of artillery in the Armed Forces starts from 100mm guns to 203 mm Pion. They were all similar in characteristics to what Russian troops have. There were no advantages in the range of a shot in Ukraine, and 155 mm artillery was presented in one copy. According to official data, the Bogdan range is 42 km.

The first Western installations began to come to the Armed Forces from the spring of 2022. At first, the states were handed over to the howitzers M777, who called the three axes in the army. 155 mm gun had a maximum range of 30 or even more than 40 km, if firing high-precision Excalibur shells. After the United States, more and more countries began to supply their samples: it is worth dwelling on jet artillery.

The United States handed over the HIMARS to Ukraine-this was a replacement for the "long hand" of the Armed Forces "Point-U", which, although it has a range of 120 km, but the ammunition to it is limited. Therefore, American systems have become a kind of "Gamechanger". The installation with 6 high -precision missiles made it possible for Ukraine to reduce the Russian artillery shaft when 60 thousand ammunition was produced per day.

Himars began to cover command and logistics points, ammunition depots and other important objects. Other precision reactive systems have gone for HIMARS: M270, Mars II, TRG-230 and LRU, which operate on a similar principle. In addition to the high accuracy of the shells, a distinctive feature of Western systems is the speed of recharge. It takes up to 2 hours to recharging 40 launchers and for HIMARS for 5-10 minutes, as the starting container changes.

The Ukrainian army was given the opportunity to wage a more efficient counter -battery and destroy Russian artillery. The invaders complain that they have nothing to answer such blows. As in the case of tanks, Ukraine is cooperating with Western countries in the development of new artillery. Ukraine and Slovakia work together on the EVA. The Ukrainian military-industrial complex had a large variety of armored vehicles in its arsenal: from KrAZ to Hamvi, from "guard" to "Spartan".

The Armed Forces also has BTR-4, which even the enemy recognized a good car. Another light armored vehicle was mainly Soviet. At the time of the end of September 2023, the Ukrainian army has a huge variety of Western samples of light-armored equipment: French BBM AMX-10RC, Patria Finnish APC, American Bradley M2A2 BMP, Polish Rosomak and a number of others.

At the same time, Ukraine aims to localize the production of many samples of Western equipment, in particular, Rhienmetall intends to produce FUCHS APC, Finland - one of the best in its CV9040 BMP class, and one of the private Ukrainian companies is considering the localization of the ASCOD platform. However, it is worth noting that all the above deliveries do not mean that there is no Soviet weapon in defense.

The scale of the war is unprecedented, so in Ukraine the Soviet BMP, BTR-60 and even museum samples, such as M-240, 240-mm caliber, are still used in Ukraine. It was made in the 1950s. Aviation is an extremely expensive industry. The Air Force was planning to move to the western aircraft 4+ generation before the full -scale War of Vision by 2035. The main contender was called the F-16. However, at the time of February 24, 2022, all aviation was Soviet or modernized Soviet.

The fighters are presented Su-27 and MiG-29, the Sucomploye-Su-25, bombers-Su-24. Army aviation is represented by: Mi-2, Mi-8, Mi-9, Mi-24, Mi-26. There are also transport planes and Il. The biggest changes in Ukraine managed to achieve fighter aviation. The United States gave good to the F-16 transmission, and Denmark, the Netherlands, and probably Belgium will transfer their sides to air forces. In total, Kiev considers 4 variants of Western aircraft: F-16, Gripen, Eurofighter and Rafale.

The event has not yet passed on to the air forces modern helicopters, were supplies to Mi-17 and Mi-24 from the Czech Republic, Lithuania and the United States, but these are Soviet models. The United Kingdom also handed over several Sea King sides for search and rescue operations. The Ministry of Defense Intelligence Directorate was purchased at the expense of volunteers of the Black Hawk helicopter. The helicopters point out that it is extremely maneuverable, reliable and easy to operate.

The military themselves say that they need percusses and the same Black Hawk. Ukraine was purchased by Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, which helped the Armed Forces to repel the Russian embossing in the first months of the war. Many experts and analysts say that the Ukrainian leadership has paid too little attention to the development of UAVs. Therefore, there were few Ukrainian developers.

Even from the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ignored the purchase of small drones like DJI Mavic 3. Meanwhile, the occupiers have been developing "Orlan-10" and Drone-Kamikadze "Lancet" for years. The state is now investing in the development of tens of billion hryvnias in the development of drones. The Ministry of Digital Transformation is constantly reporting to send hundreds and thousand UAVs to the front.

Volunteers also supply a variety of unmanned aerial vehicles in huge quantities. Currently, in Ukraine, about 200 companies are engaged in the production of UAVs. The ruler is very wide: from reconnaissance drones to large shock drones-Kamikadze. It is worth mentioning some of the Ukrainian UAVs: however, drones are the same cost material as machines or other equipment. Therefore, the commander of the air intelligence unit Yuri Kasyanov emphasizes that drones are needed even more, dozens of times.

"That is, if there are about 50 such UAVs a day (Russian drones-Kamikadze) in Ukraine now, we have to run 500. We do not do so much in 2-3 months," Yuri Kasyanov said about the production of "Beaver" in Ukraine. . From the beginning of the Great War, partners have also been transmitted by various drones, including the latest developments. Ukraine has not received except the strategic level of UAVs like RQ-4 Global Hawk.

Bayraktar TB2 was also transmitted by the Turkish company Baykar often free of charge. Volunteers were collected not only in Ukraine but also in a number of European countries. When the funds were raising, the Turks announced that they would transfer them for free. In this way, Ukrainian volunteers for the money collected for TB2 bought a whole satellite, which was transferred to GUR. There were no Western air defense systems in Ukraine.

The whole arsenal consisted of Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and HR. Thanks to command of command, the first strikes of Russian missiles on February 24, 2022 were unable to destroy Ukrainian air defense. The most powerful system was C-300 with a radius of almost 100 km. Also complexes "Beech", "Thor", "Arrow-10", "C-125," OSA "," Kub "and MSRC.

Russian massive blows, which began in the fall throughout the country, and before that there were numerous blows to Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporozhye and other settlements, showed the need to strengthen the air defense. In the fall in one volley, the invaders could run more than 100 missiles. Now the emphasis has shifted to the combined blows of the drone-Kamikadze Shahd, missiles and false purposes.

Western partners handed over to Ukraine Patriot complexes, which were able to knock down even a "hypersonic" rocket "dagger", which showed the fallacy of the Russian Federation's inability to intercept it. In total, there will be two complexes in the armed forces that can knock down ballistic missiles: Patriot and Samp/T. The receipt was officially confirmed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In the case of Patriot, the Armed Forces have different anti-rates, including the most modern PAC-3 MSE.

To combat drones, Ukraine has created mobile groups with large -caliber machine guns, and also received from Germany dozens of Gepard Armed Forces. Western air defense systems in Ukraine: Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, so there are still not enough funds. In the last months of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Drone-Kamikadze and Onyx are beaten on Odessa. The air forces knock down 80-85% of drones, but the onyxes should be knocked down.

It is also necessary to protect not only critical infrastructure, but also troops on the front line. And there is another problem - Russian cabins are corrected aircraft. They cannot be knocked down by "beech" or nasams. Patriot is needed, which is limited in Ukraine. In addition, the F-16 western fighters have. Ukraine has modernized the Navy by the concept of the Mosquito Navy - small boats and ships with rocket or artillery weapons were built.

Battle and patrol boats were also ordered in a number of countries. With the beginning of a full -scale war, it was decided to flood the frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny", so that in the event of the occupation of Nikolaev, it did not receive the enemy. After the occupation of Mariupol and the actual loss of the Azov Sea, the fleet declined in the Navy.

At the same time, Ukraine has signed several major contracts before the full -scale war: because of the full -scale war, it is obvious that most of them will be problematic to put, and it is also unknown about the condition of the agreement with the British to develop 8 boats. Therefore, the focus is on the river fleet and shock drones. Marine drones became an asymmetric response of Ukraine to the threat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

During the 19 months of a full -scale war, drones have evolved significantly. The famous H and Sutton analyst created the infographics of the evolution of Ukrainian marine drones. One such drone can carry up to 400 kg of explosives. According to the chief of GUR Kirill Budanov, the Russian Federation destroys 60-70% of sea drones, but the remaining 30% reach the goal. In Ukraine, mass production of sea drones, in particular at the expense of volunteers, was established.

The development of underwater drones "Marichka" is also being developed. The radius of action reaches 1000 km, that is, the drone will be able to reach any point in the Black Sea. It is developed by ammo. ukraine volunteers. It is stated that it is not exposed to the IEC and has a unique communication system with the operator. At the time of the start of a full -scale war, Ukraine was only "Neptune", which covered the sea from the landing of the Russian landing.

It is known that the Ukrainian Navy received one division and the other was to be received in the spring of 2022. It is unknown how many "Neptunes" are at the moment. However, it is well known that the Allies have transferred to Ukraine a time-tested anti-ship complex Harpoon and RBS-17. The latter can be applied for both marine and land purposes. One of these episodes was on video.

Thus, the Ukrainian coast is protected in several layers-the most distant "Neptune" with a radius up to 270 km, then Harpoon, which has a range in the area of 100-150 km, depending on the version of the rocket, and RBS-17 of the small radius of action. In addition, Ukraine has repeatedly destroyed Russian boats by percussion drones, Kamikadze drones and even a PTRC.

Under all the arsenal, the Ukrainian territory is still vulnerable from the Cronmore Fleet through the winged rockets "Caliber" and the coastal anti -ship complexes "Onyx". The occupants cannot land landing, but they can start missiles. It is worth noting that Western aid is not limited to the above systems and complexes.
