Experts, Russian engineers, can be considered as a basis for the new generation ...

"Armat" errors and old age T-72: Can the Russian Federation create a T-100 tank based on a forgotten project

Experts, Russian engineers, can be considered as a basis for the new generation tank, the development of the T-80 or "Object 640", which is also known as the "Black Eagle", can be taken. The Russian plant "Omsktransmash" decided to restore the production of the main combat tank (VTT) T-80.

The experts of this enterprise in the 1980s intended to significantly modernize the car, and now in the Russian media they began to talk about the creation of the main combat tank of the new generation, which can be called "T-100". In the material of March 20, Russian propagandists write that when creating a new machine, engineers can use Soviet developments in deep modernization of the T-80.

The fact is that the current T-90, which stands in service with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, is an ideological continuation of the VTT T-72. And to create a new generation machine can take the T-80, because in the USSR this machine stood out as the most expensive and technological class of tanks. Thus, Russian developers can get 30 years ago and integrate them into the future T-100.

Bulgarian Military Viewers in connection with the advent of rumors write that in the late 1980s, Omsktransmash was initiative to turn the T-80 into a futuristic tank, similar to its contemporary T-14 "Armat", which is currently in limited production on production "Uralvagonzavod". The new generation tank was designed on the basis of the concept of a unmanned tower and a crew, securely placed in an armored capsule.

However, the T-14 apparently turned out to the failure of Russian developers-the car did not get to the Ukrainian front, and experts were rightly and mercilessly criticized by "Armat". Therefore, the most ambitious T-80 modernization program can potentially be the basis for creating a new generation tank. Moreover, experts believe that such a solution may be more promising than a completely new T-14 design, developed by a "Uralvagonzavod".

Another "dusty" project since the 1990s was the Russian Tank Black Eagle, also known as "Object 640". Specialists of the Omsk Design Bureau of Transport Machinery worked on it. The main purpose of its creation was to surpass the western tanks on the battlefield and replace the outdated T-80 and T-72, which were actively used in the Russian army.

Outside, the tank building was little different from the serial T-80U, but the most important difference between a new machine from the T-80 was a welded tower of a fundamentally new type. The tower had large angles of inclination of armored worms, which significantly increased the protection of the crew.

In addition, it was planned to install a 152mm gun, and the power plant had to be a gas turbine engine with a capacity of more than 1500 hp, which would increase the specific capacity of the tank to 30 hp. per ton. But as a result, the tank remained at the prototype stage, and all the work on it was stopped.

In the summer of 2009, information was received that in connection with the bankruptcy of the OSTM, the probability of adopting an "object 640" on weapons and the beginning of its mass production is almost zero. Viewers note that it is unknown that it is the Russian tank industry that can be added to the tank developed in the 1990s by 2024. So far, this is just an assumption, although those that deserve attention.

Meanwhile, the future T-100 can be created on the basis of "Object 640", including the use of composite materials, dynamic protection and possibly even the integration of active protection systems. The future tank can be equipped with a more powerful main tool, perhaps more caliber or more sophisticated smooth -bore tool. The engine and transmission systems can also be improved, which will improve the ratio of weight to weight, acceleration and maneuverability.
