To extend: Head of Gagauz Autonomy Eugene Hutsul was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for financing the pro -Russian Party "Shore", banned in Moldova. Such a decision was made by a court in Chisinau, a policy will be served in a semi -closed prison. This was reported by the local newspaper Newsmaker. In addition, Hutsul is obliged to return 40 million lei, almost UAH 100 million. This amount, according to the investigation, was received by the party.

In the same case, the former Secretary of the Shore Party Svetlana Popan was sentenced to six years in prison. It has to return 9 million lei, about 22 million hryvnias. The prosecution party believes that from 2019 to 2022, Hutsul systematically imported money from Russia to the party's needs. She is suspected of coordinating the work of the party's offices and consciously receiving money from an organized criminal group.

Hutsul does not recognize himself guilty and is confident in political persecution. In court, the politician asked for an acquittal, but together with Popan she was arrested and brought out under a police escort. "This is not a court, but a public execution. I cannot say that there is evidence, all this is a continuous fiction," - said the lawyer of politician Sergiu Morra. The defense party is going to appeal the decision in the Court of Appeal.

Following the declaration of the sentence, Hutsul supporters under the court of the court chanted "Down the President of Moldova Maya Sandu!" In March 2025, Eugene Hutsul was detained at Chisinau Airport and arrested. She then asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to use "the whole arsenal of diplomatic, political and legal means" for pressure on Moldova and changes in the decision. In April, the court changed her precautionary measure to house arrest.

The prosecutors have now invited nine years of imprisonment for Hutsul. In 2022, the criminal case on illegal financing of the Shar Party. The investigation is convinced that the money was spent on "envelopes" for party staff and participants in anti -government actions.
