President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky did not respond directly to Putin's proposal, but declared Kyiv's readiness to discuss the termination of attacks on civilian objects. In response, the Kremlin's head promised to study this proposal. "It is necessary to deal with this, this is all the subject for careful research, perhaps in a bilateral order," he told reporters on Monday, April 21. Putin said Moscow was allegedly open to any peaceful initiative and awaits the same from Kiev.
At the same time, both presidents face the pressure of the United States, which threaten to give up peaceful efforts if the parties do not make progress in the near future. According to journalists, negotiations in London, planned for April 23, should become a "starting point" for an unconditional ceasefire. The Kremlin, meanwhile, declares work with Washington and hope for positive results.
