"Next": The Armed Forces General Staff reported an attack on Saratov Refinery (Video)

To spread: On the night of September 16, units of special operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of defense forces, hit the Saratov oil refining plant. As a result of the attack in the area of refinery, explosions and fire were recorded, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reports. Currently, the effects of the impact are being clarified.

Saratov refinery produces more than 20 types of petroleum products: gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, as well as various brands of bitumen, vacuum gas, technical sulfur and more. In 2023 the volume of processing of the plant amounted to 4. 8 million tons. The enterprise is an important strategic object because it is involved in the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"The forces of Ukraine's defense consistently carry out measures aimed at undermining the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation, in particular, its ability to provide occupation troops with fuel, ammunition and weapons, as well as in order to stop armed aggression against Ukraine,"-said in the General Staff.

On the eve of the Drone attacks of the Armed Forces, the key technological unit at the oil refining plant "Kirishinefteorgsynthesis" in the Leningrad region stopped the operation of the Armed Forces. It accounts for almost 40% of the total processing capacity of about 20 million tons per year, or 400,000 barrels per day. Due to the fact that Russian refineries have become objects of strikes from Ukraine, more than 10 regions of the Russian Federation have problems with fuel supply.

Initially, the lack of gasoline and diesel was felt in the Far East and in the Saratov region, and then - in the central regions of Russia, as well as in the occupied territories. But in Russia, the lack of gasoline is explained by tourists and agricultural workers, not the strokes of the Armed Forces on the refinery. Earlier it was reported that in the Krasnodar region of Russia the Ilsky oil refinery (refinery) failed.
