Patriot and not only: As the Armed Forces knocked down A-50 at a distance of 160 km from the front-experts

According to the editor-in-chief of Defense Express Oleg Katkov to kiss the Patriot SCR to the A-50 aircraft above the Azov, the risk and a deficient anti-aircraft complex should be tightened too close to the fire line. The Ukrainian military conducted a risky operation, hitting the Russian military aircraft A-50 and IL-22 over the Azov Sea on January 14. If the Patriot SC was used, they should pull it up to the front line.

The peculiarities of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were told on the portal Deutsche Welle. The journalists of the portal spoke with three specialists: with air expert from the National Aviation University Valery Romanenko, with the editor -in -chief of the portal Defense Express Oleg Katkov and with a military historian, Colonel Marcus Reisner, Austria). Experts explained how the Armed Forces could reach Russian aviation at a considerable distance from the front line.

Valery Romanenko stated that the Ukrainian command could use Patriot SC missiles to knock down A-50 and damage the IL-22. At the same time, he reminded that the partners gave Ukraine shells capable of reaching a target for 160 km - it was at such an indicative distance that the journalists of the expert's word were quoted. "There are no other weapons in Kiev. For the sound of the impact - above the Azov Sea off the coast of the occupied part of Ukraine - only Patriot missiles are suitable.

The range of some of their modifications is 160 km. " Oleg Katkov explained the complexity of using Patriot SC. In order for the anti -aircraft missile to reach the target, the complex must be pulled close to the front line. Such actions were "risky", he told reporters. "Place Patriot so close to the front edge - more than a risky operation. " Marcus Reisner, in turn, noted that the Armed Forces could use other systems. In his opinion, Ukraine has other complexes other than Patriot to hit 160 km.

In conversation with journalists, a military historian did not name a model of weapons that could be kissed by A-50 over the Azov. He only pointed out that the blow could be caused "from the ground and from the air. " It should be noted that on January 14, the network published a message about a possible hit on the Russian aircraft of the radar reconnaissance A-50, which patrolled the airspace and was in the area of the Azov. In addition, the vessel could hit the IL-22 command post.

A-50-a military aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, intended for tracking for air purposes at a distance of up to 600 km and at low altitude, experts explained the importance of this object. According to the head of the GUR Ministry of Defense Kiril Budanov, in Russia there are eight A-50 in "good condition". On January 15, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Valery Zaluzhny, said the Defense Forces had really neutralized A-50.

According to him, special operations were conducted thanks to the joint operation of different units. The commander did not report what weapons were kissed on Russian aircraft. In the meantime, the focus was told about the destruction of several military aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which could be hit by Patriot SC missiles.

For example, in December 2023, three Su-34 fighters broke out in the territory of the temporarily occupied Kherson region, and another-above the Black Sea. In addition, in the fall of 2023, five sides in the sky over the Bryansk region were eliminated. According to experts, the strikes in these cases could be caused by the Western anti -aircraft systems.

In August 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the defense forces received three batteries and four starting installations of the Patriot SAM. Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat in June 2023 stated that Ukraine needs "several dozen" complexes to protect the sky. We would like to remind you that on January 15, a representative of the air command explained how the fate of IL-22, which flew next to A-50 on January 14, formed.
