Simplified Flamingo missile shot down by air defense: why there is no evidence of strikes on the Russian Federation, an expert (video)

"Flamingo" is a simplified cruise missile, which is codified as a drone with a jet engine, aviation expert Valery Romanenko said on the air of media NV. In his opinion, in the near future, we can expect the intensification of the use of this means of destruction, as well as the appearance of the Ruta and Neptune drone-missiles. At the same time, nine cases of "Flamingo" strikes are known today, but only one has been confirmed.

Possible causes of such a situation are the shooting down of missiles by means of air defense of the Russian Federation or the arrival at points where Russians live with telephones, the expert noted. Romanenko explained that it is necessary to really assess the capabilities of "Flamingo" - it is actually not so much a rocket as a jet drone. It is quite admissible that it will be shot down, as the Ukrainians shoot down, conditionally, eight to nine out of ten Russian missiles.

Coping with this situation will help the mass production and launch of weapons against Russian targets, he explained. "This is a wartime product, a maximally simplified cruise missile, and in general they will be shot down. As for other objects, perhaps they were really important objects as far away from cities as possible, because the Russians did not show, and they, as a rule, take pictures of the objects.

Perhaps it happened somewhere that ordinary Russians do not have access to them," the expert clarified. In order for the "Flamingos" shots to be effective, despite knocking down 4 out of 5 or 9 out of 10, production should be increased, Romanenko emphasized. In his opinion, the main targets should be the Russian manufacturers of long-range weapons.

"It is necessary to increase the number and pace of the release of these missiles, and to hit the Russian manufacturers of long-range weapons in order to change the situation when they have nothing to shoot at, and our pace is increasing," the speaker emphasized. It should be noted that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi twice spoke about the use of Flamingo missiles to strike Russian military targets.

According to the head of state, the first such incident occurred during an attack on occupied Crimea. The Neptune rocket operated together with the Flamingo. Later, photos of the point of impact appeared on the network: analysts agreed that it was precisely this means of destruction, since they saw a hole with a diameter of 15 m. Another case of the use of the "Flamingo" was an attack on an unnamed target, while the "Ruta" drone missile was operating in parallel.

Zelensky did not specify where the target was located — in the occupied part of Ukraine or in the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, Russian media published a photo with what appeared to be the wreckage of the Flamingo missile. However, experts have not confirmed the authenticity of the wreckage. At the same time, a footage of the flight of the weapon, which looks similar to the Flamingo, appeared on the network.
