On one condition: Ukraine can regain its initiative in the war with the Russian Federation in 2025 - NYT

According to military expert Michael Kafman, the Ukrainians are tired, they lack ammunition, and the Russians have a numerical advantage. Ukraine needs sufficient Western help to regain its advantages at the front. A military expert, a senior researcher of the Russian program and Eurasia of the Carnegie Foundation Michael Kafman, writes about it in the New York Times. Coffman calls one of the main problems of the Ukrainian defense forces - personnel.

And he says that the delicacies of Ukrainian fighters are replenished at the expense of mobilized, older than middle age, or poorly trained conscripts. The second problem NYT is the lack of ammunition, and many already put shells, including cassette shells from the United States, have lost their relevance, as Russian troops have changed the tactics of assault operations and deepened fortifications.

"However, unlike last year's summer, there is no more feverish struggle for weapons and re -equipment of Ukrainian troops in the western capitals," the NYT expert adds. Cofman regards the prospects of the Ukrainian army quite gloomy - Western aid is not guaranteed at the level of 2023, the summer offensive has failed, Russian troops go on the offensive, especially on the eastern section of the front. "The Kremlin has only more: more people, ammunition and equipment.

And they do not stop, despite the growing number of wounded and killed," - the expert of the Ukrainian military said. At the same time, he notes that such an advantage of Russia is not decisive, but the war cannot be called hopeless. Coffman states that neither side was distinguished by tactics that would break the battlefield.

"Instead, it was a deadly dance of small technological achievements on both sides that have not yet broken the situation, causing the conflict to look as a modernized version of the Western Front of the First World War: a pure mass against mass," - concludes a military expert.

He concludes that, depending on what will happen on the battlefield of 2024, especially with the support of Ukraine by the West, one or two scenarios will probably take place: Ukraine can regain its advantage by 2025 or start playing the war without sufficient help. Earlier, Focus wrote that the chief of GUR Kirill Budanov called the factors that interfere with offensive operations on the front.
