According to the Naval Forces of Ukraine, a special unit of the Russian Federation with modern means of surveillance and weapons was on the platform. The strike was accurate and made it possible to disable the equipment that ensured Russian control of shipping and airspace in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. Russia responded by releasing a video, claiming that the Lancet drone had destroyed a Ukrainian ship.

The Ukrainian military emphasizes that the published footage shows something completely different — the operation of a Ukrainian kamikaze drone at Russian positions, and not the loss of a Ukrainian vessel. Before the occupation, the Sivash platform belonged to the state company Chornomornaftogaz and was used for oil and gas production. After its capture, Russia turned it into a military facility: electronic warfare equipment and sonar systems to track maritime activity were installed there.

The attack on the platform was part of a wider series of attacks by Ukraine on Russian energy and military facilities. Last week, Ukrainian forces launched "Neptune" missile strikes on the Oryol thermal power station and the Novobryan substation, which supplied energy to Russian defense industry enterprises. Oryol TPP covered approximately 40% of the region's electricity supply and most of the heat for local residents.

Analysts note that Kyiv is trying to weaken Moscow's logistical and production capabilities, while active fighting continues on the front line.
