Scientists from Japan have found the remains of US submarine USS Albacore (SS-218) 10 km from the shores of the Japanese Island Hokkaido at a depth of 250 meters.
According to the US Navy documents, this submarine sank as a result of a mini undermined on November 7, 1944 during the combat mission. The US military, who call this submarine one of the most successful in World War II, suggest that the USS Albacore (SS-218) sank in the area that day referring to the reports of Japanese ships who saw a underwater explosion. As a result, the boat went to the bottom and all of its 85 crew members were killed.
The US soldiers have already reported to relatives of 76 of the 85 killed crew members about this find. According to the US Navy archival documents, this submarine accurately sent 10 Japanese ships to the bottom, but three other sills, which the crew declared, have not yet found their confirmation. Six of the 10 drowning ships were military ships, and the crew of the submarine received several awards for the conduct of productive hostilities in the Pacific.
According to historical data, the most famous battle from which the USS Albacore (SS-218) submarine (SS-218) was a victorious, there was a fight in which the Americans were able to put a Japanese aircraft carrier "Taiho". The most recent and largest aircraft carrier of the Imperial Fleet of Japan was flooded during the Battle of Mariana Islands in June 1944.
The US Navy spokesman stated that, given the fact that, along with the submarine, 85 Americans were killed, the USS ALBACOR (SS-218) accident and the submarine itself is a military burial and is protected by US laws. "This is a sacred place that is the last shelter of American sailors who sacrificed themselves, protecting our nation," says US Navy representative Jan McCona. At the same time, American scientists are currently not planning further research.
Focus has already wrote that scientists published new frames of submarine, on which Adolf Hitler could sail to Argentina. Scientists believe that the submarine could blow up on the shore before the German dictator landed on the coast. Focus also wrote that in the United States divers found a ship "Westmorland", which sank in the mid -19th century, on board, there was a valuable cargo of gold coins and almost 300 barrels of whiskey.
