The leaders of the European Council have promised to increase the collective pressure on Russia to stop military aggression against Ukraine. The countries of the European Council have issued a joint statement on the anniversary of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, in which the actions of the Russian Federation were condemned and supported the "formula of peace" by President Vladimir Zelensky. The statement was published on the EU official website.

The publication states that, having invaded Ukraine, Russia has violated the UN Statute, the principles of the UN and the values ​​of humanity. In addition, the Russian Federation is responsible for many military crimes, in particular, for strikes on civilians. "No country has the right to invade a neighboring country or violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This aggression is a crime against peace," the EU said.

The European Council also reported the intention to continue to support Ukraine and its people as much as they needed and emphasized that Ukrainians have the right to freely choose their fate. "Ukraine is part of our European family. The Ukrainians have expressed a desire for the future in the European Union, and we recognized it by giving Ukraine the status of a candidate country," the statement said.

European leaders have promised to provide Ukraine with assistance in political, economic, humanitarian, financial and military spheres, as well as facilitate the post -war restoration of the country. To this end, the EU intends to use frozen and immobilized Russian assets in accordance with international law and increase pressure on Russia to stop aggression.

In addition, the European Council stated that they support the "formula of peace" of Vladimir Zelensky, voiced at the Great Twenty summit in Indonesia on November 15, 2022.
