Putin wants "security guarantees" for Russia and open to dialogue about Ukraine

On the eve of the visit to Beijing, the President of Russia stated that in 2022 Moscow created "necessary conditions" to sign a peace agreement - removed its troops from Kiev. In the disruption of the negotiation process, he accused Ukraine and the West. Russia wants "comprehensive, stable and just settlement of the conflict with peaceful means" and is open to dialogue against Ukraine.

However, such negotiations should take into account the interests of all the "conflict" involved in this "conflict. It is about security guarantees for both the opposing side and the Russian Federation itself. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the Chinese news agent "Sinhhua", the text of which was published on the Kremlin's website. Putin believes that the main problem is the reliability of any guarantee.

According to him, Moscow has to deal with states whose governing circles prefer the world order not on the basis of international law, but a "order based on the rules" they are constantly talking about, but which no one has seen. " He added that with these rules "no one agreed", and they themselves "change depending on the current political situation and the interests of those who invent them.

" The Kremlin head in an interview assured that Russia was ready for negotiations, and recalled that such negotiations were conducted. "On April 15, 2022, in Istanbul, we, together with the Ukrainian delegation, prepared a project of a future peace agreement taking into account the requirements of the Ukrainian delegation, in particular on the guarantee of Ukraine's security in the future. Because for the final coordination and signing of this agreement, it is necessary to create conditions.

The Russian president added that the Ukrainian side unexpectedly announced the termination of negotiations instead of signing a peace agreement. This was allegedly done through the recommendation of Western Allies to continue the fighting and jointly seek a strategic agreement with them. We will remind, on May 6, China leader Xi Jinping during his visit to France said that Beijing was in favor of holding an international peace conference, which Ukraine and Russia will support.
