Ukraine stops the transit of oil from Russia

Following current oil and gas transit contracts, Ukraine will not continue agreement with Russia. However, the authorities are ready to consider requests from European companies for transportation from other sources. From January 1, 2025, the Friendship oil pipeline is stopped, through which Russian oil was received by Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. The news was told by the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak.

He noted that the European Union has made a decision on diversification of oil and gas supplies, making Russia lost its former influence. According to Podolyak, certain transit contracts are valid until January 1, 2025, and Ukraine cannot make decisions on them alone. However, from the beginning of next year, they end and Kiev is open for transportation to Europe of non -Russian gas.

"It can be any other transit gas that will leave the Central Asian countries," Podolyak said, adding that if a European country wants to get Kazakh or Azerbaijani gas, Ukraine is ready to transport it for appropriate logistics and properly registered contracts. The adviser to the head of the OP noted that earlier the European market was guaranteed to profit Moscow, but now Russian dictator Vladimir Putin loses his influence and reputation there.

According to him, Moscow loses markets, so she has to sell oil and gas with high discounts in Asian markets. However, Podolyak suggests that the situation for Russia will only become worse. It should be reminded that at the end of July it became known that Budapest will block the payment of 6. 5 billion euros from the European Peace Fund for Ukraine until Kiev will allow the Russian "Lukoil" transit of oil pipeline "Druzhba" in Hungary.
