According to researchers, one of the main problems of fighter pilots today is the accuracy of determining the enemy aircraft in the sky. False work of today's IE systems takes a lot of time and attention to the analysis and screening of false goals. Therefore, scientists of the Southwestern Research Institute (SWRI) have decided to use advanced algorithms in a test environment with overloaded signals, which corresponds to the saturated air field of combat.
They managed to achieve the accuracy of determining goals and hostile HPs at 99%, which is the best result today. It is the surveillance of algorithms, not scanning itself, which makes it possible to quickly detect enemy impulses, providing faster response and better protection for US military aircraft. For their new system, researchers have used UWR (Ultra Wideband Radio - digital overproduction).
This ensured the almost instant detection of signals in a wider lane of the electromagnetic spectrum, expanding the possibility of suppressing the radars of the enemy. "The new UWR technology from our institute is a long -term solution for protection and intelligence and is able to exceed the existing and future radar systems of the enemy, even if they increase the capacity, flexibility and adaptability," - said Finley Hicks with SWRI, which heads a group of UWR developers.
Another feature of the UWR system is its compliance with the technical standard Sensor Open System Architecture. This means that new development can be easily integrated into outdated and recently developed weapons with open architecture.
