NATO Air Defense Rotation: Spain will deploy in Estonia Nasams System

Madrid is ready to transfer its air defense system for four months. The Estonian Defense Minister hopes that other NATO countries will also share their air defense. In April, Spain will transmit NASAMS air defense system to Estonia for four months. This will strengthen NATO's eastern flank. This was announced on February 14 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia.

According to the decision, the Defense Minister Hanno Phokur and his colleague from Spain, Margarit Robles, as the meeting of the heads of defense agencies of the North Atlantic Alliance in Brussels, agreed on this decision.

"Over the last year, the Eastern wing of NATO has significantly increased power, and I am glad that, given the need to fill the critical gap in the possibilities of Estonian Air Defense of the Middle Radium, we have reached an agreement with Spain on the direction Since April this year, "the head of the Defense Office of Estonia emphasized.

Miking, in particular, hopes that after Spain will follow other NATO countries, which will be shared in the order of rotation by their systems until its own air defense has appeared in Estonia. "We, together with Latvia and Lithuania, have made a proposal to create a rotational model of air defense, which operates by analogy with the NATO mission to ensure air security in the Baltic States," he said.

According to Pevkura, thanks to the dislocation of NASAMS in Estonia, Tallinn will be able to analyze the tactical features of Medium -range SCRs. The main purpose of NASAMS's deployment in Estonia is to protect the Emari Air Base as a strategic object. We will remind, at a meeting in Brussels on February 14, the Minister of Defense of Estonia also stated that Western allies planned to provide Ukraine with 100 billion euros of military and related assistance in 2023.
