Bradley Replacement: The US is working on a new BMP XM-30, taking into account the experience of war in Ukraine

Designers intend to increase the survival of armored vehicles due to active protection systems that will counteract UAV attacks and anti -tank controlled missiles. The US Army reviews the technical requirements for the Promising Infantry Fighting Machine (BMP) XM-30, relying on lessons extracted from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

The main focus is to strengthen the protection against anti -tank guided missiles (PTKR) and unmanned aircraft systems, which have demonstrated high efficiency against armored vehicles. About it reports Army Recognition. One of the key updates will be the integration of advanced active protection complexes (Kaz) designed to neutralize threats by PTKR and drones.

Although Iron Fist and AMAP-ADS systems have already proven effective rockets, the questions about their adaptation to the growing threat of drones that attack armored vehicles from different directions. The US Army considers combined opposition - using both kinetic interceptors and radio electronic means of suppression.

Additionally, XM-30 can get complexes of electronic fighting (HRB) to suppress drone control channels, as well as weapons of directional energy (possibly laser installations) capable of neutralizing drones in the air. These measures should increase the survivability of the machine in the modern war, where unmanned systems become a key tool for the defeat of armored vehicles.

XM-30 is the development of the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV), launched as part of the replacement of the outdated M-2 Bradley armored armored vehicle. The latter has been in operation since 1981 and has reached, according to experts, the boundaries of modernization potential. The new machine should combine the ability to control the crew and remote tasks, meeting modern requirements for automated combat systems.

The new BMP will be the main means of mechanized crews of the US Army and will not only perform the functions of transportation and fire support of the infantry, but also interact with autonomous systems on the battlefield. It should be noted that for a significant contract for $ 45 billion, which provides for the replacement of approximately 2400 Bradley, giants of Rheinmetall and General Dynamics Land Systems compete.
