The Russian Federation illegally selected: Ukraine wants to find and privatize the USSR foreign property

According to the State Property Fund, information on the objects of Soviet heritage that has lost Ukraine is already collected through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Almost 33 years after the collapse of the USSR, Ukraine decided to return its part of the Soviet heritage in assets abroad. These assets were illegally assigned to Russia after the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991. The State Property Fund (FDM) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will work on resolving this issue.

This was reported on February 7 by the PDM press service. Thus, according to the head of the Vitaliy Koval Foundation, if such objects are privatized, then the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive an additional source of support. Privatization work is ready to carry out the SPF, so the Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are now creating a joint working group on foreign assets.

"We will work together on the return of property, which after the collapse of the USSR was unfairly and illegally enthusiastically captured by Russia. SPF is ready to privatize such facilities, because they can become one of the sources of Ukraine's internal reserve to support the Armed Forces," the statement said. The EU Foreign Ministers, according to Bloomberg on January 23, agreed to introduce a tax on unforeseen income from frozen assets of the Russian Federation.

The Allies of Ukraine agree that Moscow should compensate for the losses caused during the war. The European Union, the Great Seven countries and Australia have decided to freeze about 260 billion euros ($ 283 billion) of assets of the Russian Central Bank in the form of securities and cash. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, meanwhile, say that the decision to confiscate Russian assets will be made during 2024.

According to the head of the department Dmitry Kuleb, it is possible that frozen assets of the Russian Federation will be transferred to Ukraine in parts, not comprehensively, but the first results should be in the near future. At the same time, the EU countries are afraid of the corresponding response of Russia to the confiscation of its foreign assets in favor of Ukraine. Thus, according to Politico, Moscow can arrange large -scale cyberattacks in Western countries.
