If the Russians have selected a passport: how Ukrainians will prove their citizenship after de -occupation

The invaders continue the forced certification of the population in the Kherson region. The Ukrainians were set to obtain a Russian document - until September 1. Those who are forced to take a passport of the Russian Federation are at risk not only to receive suspicion of collaboration, but also to prove their Ukrainian citizenship. Russian invaders continue forced certification of the population in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region.

Citizens who refuse to obtain a passport of the Russian Federation are threatened with shutdown of electricity, deportation, confiscation of property and forced eviction from their own housing. This was reported today, June 2, was reported on the General Staff. "The Russian occupation administration has determined on September 1 this year the final term of obtaining a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation with a mandatory rejection of the Ukrainian passport," the statement reads.

It is noted that energy companies require that new electricity supply contracts are required if there is a Russian passport. All Ukrainians who will refuse to obtain a passport of the Russian Federation are threatened not only by the lack of light, but also by forced eviction from homes.

On June 1, the National Resistance Center, created by the Special Operations of the Armed Forces, also reported that the occupying power in the Crimea selects real estate from those Ukrainians who have not yet received a passport of the Russian Federation. "The confiscated buildings are inhabited by representatives of the occupying troops and collaborators who have escaped from the south of Ukraine," the message reads.

Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Security, Pavel Lysyansky, told focus who risks staying in the so -called "gray zone" of citizenship after Ukraine returns all the occupied territories. So, according to him, the Ukrainian Migration Service has a procedure for identifying a person, which includes tracking a digital trace.

Even if the occupiers have seized all the documents, including the birth certificate, it is still possible to determine whether a particular person is a citizen of Ukraine. "A person is" banished "according to many databases. Thus it is found out where he studied, where he worked, what bank cards opened and so on," - says Lysyansky. At the same time there are children who have not yet left their digital trace.

In addition, a law was adopted in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass, according to which if the mother draws up a Russian passport, her underage children automatically become citizens of the Russian Federation. Also, according to the expert, there is a procedure for abandoning Ukrainian citizenship for orphans under 14 years of age living in the occupied territories-they are appointed a guardian who signs them for a corresponding refusal.

In the gray zone of citizenship may be those Ukrainians who have not re -regrered the old samples of the passport before the occupation. "For example, there is a citizen of Ukraine who has not changed his passport since 2001, the accompanying documents have a model of the Soviet Union, with some certificates he lost. not the simplest procedure.

If we consider such moments and talk about the design of Ukrainians from the occupied territories, we need a law, other mechanisms that will regulate repatriation issues. There is no such thing yet, "says Lysyansky. At the end of 2022, the President of the Russian Federation issued a decree that the Russian passport was strictly refused. Earlier, even under pressure, the person who took the passport of the Russian Federation could leave his own Ukrainian document.

For example, the inhabitants of the occupied Donbass could have up to three documents: Ukrainian, Russian and passport of so -called "DNR" or "LNR". "Now Russia has decided that it has the right to deprive the person of citizenship of another country. It is illegal, but they [the Russians] persistently impose their passports. For April-May 2023 we counted more than 1000 arrests Russia is precisely because it is necessary to abandon Ukrainian.

These people are delayed for 15 days and kept unclear somewhere, " - the expert continues. Lysyansky also says that in all temporarily occupied territories began to formulate Russian documents instead of already issued by 2022. This is due to the fact that there was no data on the registration in the passport.
