The Russian Federation has created a rocket "Oreshnik", breaking the arrangements concluded with the United States - Forbes

Journalists confirmed that Orezhnik was created on the basis of another ballistic missile PC-26 "Rubezh". The Orezhnik ballistic missile, which was attacked by the Russian Federation on November 21, was created by the "insidious" violators of the Medium and Low Range Treaty of Limiting of the Treaty of Elimination of Medium and Low Range. Forbes writes about it.

Journalists recalled that the deputy spokesman of Pentagon Sabrina Singh described "Orezhnik" as a variant of the Russian ballistic missile PC-26 "Rubezh", which is a 40-tonne rocket on solid fuel, which belongs to two contractual categories. Depending on the angle at which it starts, PC-26 can fly a little more than 3400 miles, which makes it an intercontinental ballistic missile (IBR). At the same time, it can be called a winged air base rocket (KRPB), which has a shorter range than 3400 miles.

The problem for the RC-26 developers was that by 2019 the United States and Russia were participants in the Treaty on Medium and Low Range Missiles in 1987, which forbade testing and deployment of missiles at a distance of 310 to 3400 miles. "Able to carry nuclear warrior, as well as strike with minimal warning, IBRs have a unique destabilizing effect-hence the contract.

But Russia secretly continued to develop rockets in this category, which eventually made the United States to get out of the contract, despite some objections Arms control in 2019. According to journalists, the fact that "Orezhnik" is a version of the PC-26, proves that the first is not necessarily a MBR, and the second is almost probably not. Nuclear weapons expert Hans Kristensen stressed that "Orezhnik" even "a little funny" because of its confusing origin.
