EU countries have blocked the purchase of Bayraktar for the Armed Forces - the media

Allies were offered to buy Turkish drones at the expense of the European Union. The EU Fund, the most contributions to Germany, had to pay this initiative. France and Greece, along with Cyprus, vetoed the purchase of Bayraktar TB2 drones for Ukrainian troops. The Peace Fund was to pay the initiative. About it reports the portal Opex360. The countries, according to the report, stated that only products from EU countries should be bought for European money.

The authors of the publication stated that Greece admitted that the country was guided not only by "European defense autonomy". The country also made the decision due to the fact that it simply does not intend to support the defense and industrial complex of Turkey at its expense. The authors describe an example where the EU country has bought non -European production defense products for the Foundation.

It was Estonia, which decided to update its weapons instead of the Soviet systems transferred to Ukraine, but no one dared to block such purchase. The authors of the Opex360 also cites such an argument - if in the first months of the Russian invasion of the Ukrainian military actively used Bayraktar TB2, but now these drones "glow" much less often because of active counteraction to Russian air defense systems and HR.

At the same time, they refer to the words of Pierre Sill, the head of the General Staff of the Army of France, announced during a speech in the Senate in November 2023. Opex360 noted that the EU "Peace Fund" is filled with subsidiary, that is, each state introduces its share in proportion. The largest share in this "Fund" is introduced by Germany, which at least publicly does not express objections to the acquisition of Turkish defense products for Ukraine.
