The T-70 Russian invaders were removed from the pedestal for reconstruction so that it could lead a parade in honor of the 80th anniversary of Melitopol's liberation from the Nazis. As it turned out, there is no "stuffing" inside the stolen T-70-neither the engine nor the running. The regional branch of the Russian Military History Society in the Leningrad region stated that the tank building will be cleaned, the engine and other units will be installed, and all this will be done in 4 months.
The Russians stole the tank on May 23, 2023. To them he stood on the pedestal of the Memorial "Brotherhood Cemetery" from the moment of release of Melitopol from fascist invaders in 1943. The Melitopols themselves are not very sad for the tank, they promise after the de -occupation of Melitopol on the liberated pedestal to erect a monument to Himars. In the fall of 1943, the T-70 tank with the crew of Lieutenant Gavryushov's Guard came to Melitopol to support the infantry of the Rifle Division.
The tankers destroyed several "supporters" of the enemy in the city park, and then fought on Rantischiy Street, where they struck two enemy tanks, and the third was blown. The tankers were killed. After the release of the city from the invaders at the instructions of the commander Front FI Tolbukhin, the T-70 tank was installed above the grave of heroes. The occupation of Melitopol in the Second World War lasted for more than 2 years - from October 6, 1941 to October 23, 1943.
