The Russian Federation is actively looking for weapons all over the world: a merchant ship has arrived from Syria - the media

Russia, in violation of international norms, uses trade vessels to deliver weapons to Ukraine, according to EU and US intelligence. The Russian SPARTA II Russian Trade ship, which is under US sanctions, has passed the Bosphorus Turkish Strait from Syria to Russia at the end of last month. European intelligence believes that the ship had military equipment that the Russian Federation wants to use in the war against Ukraine. About it writes Bloomberg.

According to an unnamed official, a friend with the question, the Government of the United States also believes that the Russian Federation uses trade vessels to transport military goods to the Black Sea. The publication states that in the period from July 17 to July 25, the SPARTA II ship was noticed in Syria with vehicles in the hold, later it was discovered at the crossing of the Bosphorus Strait, after which it was identified in Novorossiysk at least 11 vehicles.

There were no obstacles from NATO - Turkey - at the crossing of the vessel, the Bosphorus Strait was not, the journalists say. In this regard, the State Department of the United States has sent requests to the Turkish government. The Turkish official reported that Ankara does not intend to check the merchant vessels if there is no information about the possible offense. It is unknown what the technique of Russia from Syria received.

In 2017, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that there were more than 160 modern weapons, including fighter jets, laser rockets, tanks, radio -electronic warfare and air defense systems there.

The publication noted that the possible supply of weapons from Syria influence the general logistics of supply of Russian troops, since Novorossiysk is used to replenish the reserves of bases in the occupied Crimea, and from there the equipment is already delivered to the occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. The transfer of additional equipment is associated with the threat of counter -offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south of the country.
