The offensive of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Vovchansk: in ISW called the target of the occupiers (map)

The promotion of Russian troops in the north of the Kharkiv region is limited. According to analysts, there is no threat to Kharkiv, but there is a pressure on other forces of the Armed Forces. Russian troops seized 6 settlements in the north of the Kharkiv region. ISW analysts believe that the occupiers want to capture Vovchansk in order to create a threat to the Armed Forces in Kupyansk. This is stated in the report of May 11.

The operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the north of the Kharkiv region is limited in nature and limited tactical success, probably in less protected areas. The involved forces in the operation now indicate that it is not a full -scale offensive on Kharkiv. The spokesman of the "Khortytsia" Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshin said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were trying to move in the gray zone.

This may indicate that the Armed Forces did not create powerful strongholds and fortifications along the gray zone. In the future, the army of the Russian Federation will have more resistance in the Liptsi and Vovchansk. Russian troops blew up the bridge across the Vovcha River, which connects the Tikh and Vovchansky farms to the west of Vovchansk. The ISW assumed that the invaders destroyed the bridge to try to isolate the Ukrainian forces and complicate the defense of Vovchansk.

They also tried to destroy the Gloc land lines to the southwest and the east of Vovchansk, which indicates the desire of the Russian Federation to focus on the captured settlement. Probably, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will try to capture the city, not bypass it or expand the front. The ISW suggests that the offensive on Vovchansk should press on the operational rear of Ukrainian forces, which are defense in the Kupyansk direction.

Also, the pressure on Vovchansk is not related to the offensive on Kharkiv. The settlement could become a bridgehead for the offensive in the direction of Greater Burluk. It is noted separately that the further promotion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to the south of Kharkiv region will require long relocations in open areas, which are not very effectively able to make troops of the Russian Federation.
