"We should discuss": Scholtz proposes to invite the Russian Federation to the Second Peace Summit

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a secret conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholtz, and journalists found out. The German politician reported that he was trying to end full -scale fighting as soon as possible. Russia would need to be invited to the second summit of peace. If done, the war will end faster than it seems today.

Olaf Scholz, a Federal Chancellor of Germany, told about further opportunities for Ukraine support and peace talks with the Russian Federation in an interview with Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF). Scholz spoke with journalists within a traditional summer interview, according to the ZDF portal. Other topics relevant to the Germans were asked about Germany's policy on Ukraine and the Russian-Ukrainian war. The politician assured that he would make efforts that the help did not stop.

He also stated that Russia should take part in the next peace conference. Chancellor mentioned that he had a confidential conversation with President Vladimir Zelensky on the further course of the Russian-Ukrainian war. "We need to discuss how we can get out of this situation of war and reach peace faster than it seems at the moment. In any case, there will be another peaceful conference and I agree that it should go through Russia," he said chancellor.

The interlocutor of journalists on the Ukrainian question explained that he will "fulfill the tasks that are now set on the map. " At the same time, he acknowledged that his political force, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), lost the votes of some voters through the position of Scholz and his colleagues in the government. "The election results are also due to the fact that some citizens do not agree that we support Ukraine," the words of Scholz have given on the ZDF portal.

In mid -August, German government officials decided to reduce assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, they emphasized that they do so in view of the use of Russian assets to cover the needs of a warring country.
