Capsule from the little finger: the deposit in the Russian Federation lost the most dangerous radioactive metal (photo)
But on the way, they lost a capsule the size of a little finger, which contained a radiation source of cesium-137. Baza writes about it. Cesium-137, like Strontium-90, is considered one of the most dangerous for isotopes. The period of its half -life - 30 years, with everything else, the metal is biologically active. The dangerous substance was intended for exploration. It was stored in a small special capsule, which was packaged in a special protective box.
The box was in the KAMAZ mobile station, but after the trip, the capsule was not available. Police are searched, but until the substance is found. By the way, a large-scale release of cesium-137 occurred after the Chernobyl accident, and 40% of the ejected volume fell with precipitation in the territory of the former USSR. In the early 1980s, a similar capsule was immersed in the wall of the house in Kramatorsk. In one of the apartments, several teenagers died of leukemia for several years.
The family decided to move, but a similar disease was found in new residents. Initially, doctors believed that it was a matter of heredity. But subsequently, representatives of the second family checked the radiation background, which was overstated hundreds of times. It turned out that the capsule with Cesium-137 was found in the wall of the nursery. It should be reminded that the Ukrainian migrant was successfully cured of colon cancer after moving to the United States.
